The sun was setting,
The Last Supper was over.
You headed for the garden,
Seeking strength through prayer.
You knew the day was coming,
It was filled with pain and torture.
What was it like to live
each moment knowing for sure?
The task so difficult blood came from your pores.
The sun would rise it is unstoppable.
You asked for deliverance, but
Knew through Him all things are possible
Oh, how You know my pain and suffering.
Though it cannot compare to your last day.
You understand and walk with me
For we knew the coming of this day.
I spent time in prayer with You,
Preparing for the possibility
Just as the sun rises, this day has come
I accept it with complete humility.
I held it off as long as I could
With hope in my heart I could handle the job.
You taught me the lessons to reassure
I was not giving up or quitting on my mom.
My heart is sad and heavy
Her heart is filled with hate and veiled
Will You help me hold on to hope,
The day will come when forgiveness prevails?
Oh Lynda, this is so heartbreaking and beautiful all at the same time...What a sincere prayer in the form of poetry for the situation you are in currently. I will continue to pray that her heart will soften to realize that what you do and have been doing for her is out of love and what is best for everyone. I'm so sorry that you are struggling with so much right now. Keep the faith and hope alive! Your mom is blessed with a wonderful daughter!
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful poem. Just know that this too shall pass and hopefully she will change. I too, am sorry that you are struggling.
